Warr Guitar vs Chapman Stick

I am often asked how the Warr Guitar differs from the Chapman Stick. There are similarities in that the tuning can be the same (BEADGC C#F#BEAD is what I use) and they are both played using the touch style method. I still own my original Stick (seen below with one of my Warr Guitars) so in looking at the two instruments, it becomes clear that there are similarities in the overall idea.

The differences lie in the body construction and electronics. The Warr has two jacks for the melody and bass sides while the Stick uses a stereo cable that may be used in stereo or mono output positions. The Warr guitar uses a guitar strap and can be moved to sit in the vertical position or a more horizontal position. The Stick clips onto your belt and uses the arm strap to stay secured in the vertical position. The Stick uses an assortment of pickups (I have an active Block pickup) designed by Stick Enterprises. The Warr guitars used to use Bartolini pickups (pictured on mine below), but now use custom pickups designed by Pete Hanewinckel, the builder.

Personally, I like the feel of having the guitar body there. I also feel like the Warr Guitar adds sustain that I do not get with the Stick. Having said that, the Stick is convenient as it fits in a nice thin bag and can be transported easily.

Reach out if you are considering purchasing one and I would be more that willing to offer more insight. Thanks.

Logo

Hajo Müller created the artwork for my next release (coming in February of 2022). As part of the cover art, he included a cool logo of sorts. We explored this idea further until it developed into what you see here. More on this as information about the next album becomes public.

“The Perfect Fallacy” CD

I originally wanted to try something new and release my latest album only in the digital format. Based on a number of requests for a physical copy of the music, I have decided to press a small number of CDs. Artwork was completed by Hajo Müller and should be arriving soon. Purchase information coming soon..

New Website Design

I have decided to make some slight changes to the website design for a couple of reasons. One, It has been over a year since I launched the original look and so I felt like it was time for a change. The second reason is that with a new album coming out tomorrow and some exciting things coming around the corner, I felt like the new site did a better job of showcasing this events. Enjoy.

The Perfect Fallacy

In February of this year, I recorded an album of music meant to be the follow up to “The Darkness Found in Shadows.” While thematically it is very different, the sound expanded on that album. It is called, “The Perfect Fallacy” and works as the soundtrack to a reoccurring dream. I reached out Hajo Müller (a collaboration that will extend to my next release coming in February), who created an amazing visual representation. In fact, before even discussing possibilities, Hajo had presented a geometric idea which played into the dream itself. It was almost as though he had read my mind. More details coming…

While this year has been different in every way, musically speaking, it has been very busy. It started with a new Aziola Cry album out on The Laser's Edge Group. Next, I got signed to Wayfarer Records and released “Fictional Mirrors,” an album that not only represents the direction that I plan to take with regard to my solo sound, but also is still in the process of its promotion (new video came out last week). So, why release this album now? Really, there didn’t seem to be a perfect time to put it out with 2022 shaping up to be just as busy. November marked the one year anniversary of its sister album and also this album for me represents a closing of this year.

I so present my reoccurring dream, “The Perfect Fallacy.” It will be available this Friday on all streaming services and on Bandcamp.
